MAXACE PEREGRINE - ZDP189

This is the first Maxace knife featuring ZDP189 steel  - which is hardened to 64-66 HRC.

ZDP189 SAN MAI steel is normally seen on high end folders like Japanese brand Rockstead, or expensive Japanese kitchen knives due to the extra fine sharpness that can be achieved with the steel.

Several factors combine to make this knife special, including the HITACHI ZDP189 steel blade, a sculpted titanium handle, and incredibly smooth bronze phosphor action.

The 3.54  inch ZDP189 blade is flat ground with a stepped blade edge to showcase the San Mai layered steel blade.

It opens from a front flipper or a thumb stud. Either method of deployment showcases the smooth, efficient bronze phosphor washer system.

The blade is milled out with a track for each washer to give the knife a smooth as glass opening.

Comes in a padded nylon case for storage and spare parts kit.

Nearly Perfect

Maxace are now solidly in the same range as Reate for quality fit and finish.

The Peregrine proves that knives with phosphor bronze washers can have a smooth as glass action.

The handle is very comfortable, and the fit and finish of the inlay is excellent.

The blade is nicely shaped and beautifully ground, but thicker than is necessary to get excellent cutting performance out of ZDP189.

The thumb stud is a good shape and size, and is in the right place.

The pocket clip suits the Peregrine aesthetically, but is the weakest point of the knife: it is not great for thick jeans, and does not work well one handed.
