KIZER HAVE DISCONTINUED THIS PRODUCT
PLEASE NOTE - Australian Border Force has deemed this item as a Concealed Weapon and seized our last shipment. Even though there are cheaper versions of this tool imported into Australia - and it is a tool with legitimate uses - especially for fishing. As everyone knows, any tool can be used for good or bad. Hammers come to mind...
Kizer Urban Protector
This tool is a modern uptake on the old style ice pick and is, sleek, classy and sophisticated.
A TOOL for chipping ice off a block by restaurant staff, bartenders or at home or out camping - especially in summer when crushed ice is often sold out and you are stuck with a giant block of ice.
It can also be used as a stitching awl for heavy canvas or thick leather items.
Most of our customers use this as a fishing tool to humanely kill their catch the Iki Jime style. Recommended as the best way when catching fish by marine biologists and animal welfare experts.
Also from a Health and Safety aspect - Titanium does not breed bacteria or corrode and the sheath keeps the point safe when not in use. Especially if it falls onto the deck of a boat and someone treads on it or kicks it.
The sheath also keeps the point safely away from children and careless adults. This is much safer than the type without a sheath. This is very sharp and is not a toy for the kids.
Made with a carbon fiber handle and sheath with the spike being made from titanium instead of stainless steel. This comes into play when you are using it for fishing as it prevents bacteria from breeding and it will not corrode/rust in salt water. The cheap stainless steel versions - even 316 marine stainless - will all corrode.
The Urban Protector is a slim, handy tool with a carbon fiber sheath that houses a 2-inch titanium spike. The two halves of the Urban Protector are held together with powerful magnets that provide excellent retention, but also allow it to come apart easily.
A lanyard hole and included length of paracord allow easy carry around the house, the restaurant or workshop or out fishing. See below for the video for the Ike Jime method for humanely killing fish.
Used as -
- Fishing tool - for Ike Jime. Does not corrode in salt water or breed bacteria.
- Awl - for leather, canvas, denim, plastics, fiberglass etc.
- Ice pick.
The video shows using a spike on fish, Ike Jime style. When the fish are running hot, you'll want to wear one around your neck for easy access. We've been on several trips where we literally had hundreds of fish in the boat, caught on rods as fast as we could bait them, and nothing to properly kill them except a knife which was rather clunky and dangerous.
The spike in the video is plastic and steel (we've seen cheaper wooden models too) - nowhere near the Urban Protector quality which is made to last several lifetimes.
