First of all, I am firmly of the belief that front flippers are a solution to a problem that never existed. I love top flippers, like the Kansept Reverie, but the only good thing I normally say about front flippers is that there is no clunky flipper to get in the way when cutting things.
Despite all of this, the Kizer Apus is an underappreciated gem. Anyone who wants to know how a front flipper should work should buy one.
The Apus demonstrates how good Kizer’s fit and finish can be, when they put their minds to it, and is an excellent example of thoughtful and effective design.
The Apus is easier to open and close than any other front flipper I have handled.
The handle is very comfortable for my medium sized hands, but might be a bit small for someone with large hands.
The blade is a nice shape, but I wish it was thinner behind the edge.
I do not understand why a knife this good is not more popular.

Love the strong design and comfortable handling on this knife. The styling of the scales and sweep of the blade give it a Steampunk feel. The copper overlays on the Titanium scales add to this aesthetic by providing contrast and patina. With clever design, there are limited screws visible and accentuate the stylised lines. The front flipper is smooth and easily snaps open with no wrist flick (much easier than the Feist).
I was eying this off for a while but took the plunge eventually, and I'm super glad I did. It's not only a knife with a strong, stylised design but pleasing in the hand. It would be equally at home in the jacket pocket of Deckard in Bladerunner or the hand of Hester in Mortal Engines.
