CATSHARK - designed by Yue & Azo
The Catshark from Azo and Yue is a multi-functional slip joint knife with incredibly snappy action and with a lot of features in a compact design.
These include a Hex bit driver, lanyard hole, and light-duty pry bar tucked neatly into the titanium lockside which also includes a deep carry pocket clip.
The detent lock allows the crisp opening action as well as keeps the blade open in place without a lock - making it legal to carry in many more places than a locking blade.
It also includes a bit that can be placed into the hole in the handle and blade in the open position, locking the blade into place.
It should be put onto a lanyard and attached to the knife so it's always handy, and it serves the dual purpose of being a ferro rod to throwing some sparks when necessary.
This is a very well thought out design from Azo and Yue and a strong competitor in the realm of small EDC knives.
A Closer Look At Bohler N690 Steel
N690 Cobalt stainless steel is made by Bohler in Austria - the same company that makes the now famous M390 high end blade steel. N690 steel is very similar to 440C but the high chromium content (more than 17 percent) makes this steel very resistant to corrosion. In addition, its ability to accept hardening is increased and its wear resistance is improved.
Molybdenum (a little over one percent) is introduced to reduce the brittleness of the alloy and improves a number of other properties and characteristics of N690 steel making it very durable and easy to sharpen for knife blades.
These knives are fantastic value for the money. Very fast to flip.
Flipper, ceramic ball bearing action.
